Deep in the Basque Country, at Ostabat-Asme, three different ways (there are several starting points) of the Camino meet, to continue as one towards Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, from where the Pyrenees are crossed to get to Spain. I spend the night in the house of a large Basque family, grandparents, parents and children are living together. They are very friendly, we have an interesting discussion about the future of the European Union, I learn a lot about the Basques and their mystical past. Nobody really knows where they came from; in the language (very strange to listen to!) linguists have found similarities to Russian and Finnish.
