For many pilgrims, Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port is the starting point of their trip to Santiago. The hostel is lead by a group of very friendly and attentive people. The village is so beautiful, it makes you want to stay for at least a week, unfortunately I do not have that much time but I stay for one extra day at least. Not having to walk for a day feels great, instead I sit in the sun on the terrace of the hostel, in front of me a view over the valley you cannot get enough of, a day full of nice conversations and a great supper in the evening. One day to rest, before crossing the Pyrenees, 27km and a height difference of 1300m, to get to Roncesvalles in Spain.
