The landscape of the region "Bierzo", through which I am walking right now is different from the "Maragataría" the one before on the other side of the mountains. Many wineyards, lots of little fields and tiny little woods every once in a while. The latter are perfect for a little rest in the shade.
Villafranca is also called the "little Santiaga" because of its many monuments and the fact that in medievel times sick pilgrims, who would most likely not make it to Santiago anymore, would get indulgence from their sins here already.
